JioMart sees 60% sales from non-metro regions, focuses on electronics, beauty, FMCG categories this festive season

New Delhi: Reliance Retail’s e-tail arm JioMart has seen more than 60 per cent of its sales from tier 2 and beyond regions in this festive season so far, however, the response has been good in metro regions, a company’s spokesperson told ETRetail.

JioMart’s one month long ‘Tyohaar Ready Sale’ kicked-off on 23rd September. The spokesperson said they have witnessed 2.5 times growth in sales, traffic and product views in the first 2 weeks of sale. Their application installations have seen an increase of about three times during this period.

The online grocery platform is focusing on additional categories this festive season including electronics, home & kitchen, fashion & lifestyle, beauty, FMCG, and consumer durables. It has also increased the number of products by over 80 times compared to the previous year.

Currently, it offers JioMart-Whatsapp ordering and no minimum order limit for the free delivery. This has resulted in an overall demand spike in grocery as well as other categories for the platform.

Seeing the growth and competition in this space, Sandeep Varaganti, CEO, JioMart stated, “As one of the largest multichannel homegrown e-marketplaces, we aim to transform the digital retail ecosystem by empowering local stores, kiranas, SMB (Small and Medium Businesses), MSMEs, local artisans, and burgeoning women entrepreneurs”

This festive season, as part of first-of-its-kind JioMart’s initiative, the online platform has also onboarded traditional artisans and weavers to strengthen their livelihoods. Varaganti said the artisans source their products from a wider community of other local artisans, creating additional indirect employment.

He also added, “We will expand our reach to the heartlands of the country and ensure timely delivery via our extensive network of physical stores including Reliance Smart, Reliance Trends, Reliance Digital, alongside third-party selling partners.”
