Ok! Let’s talk all things winter boots and wellington boots! It’s time my friends. We are officially into the depths of autumn, the thermometer has plummeted here in the UK this last week and the leaves are falling. I am a big winter boot fan….and winter style fan. Give me cosy knits and hats over breezy summer dresses any day of the week. I grew up on a farm too and was rarely seen out of my jodhpurs and wellies and I have been through a fair few different pairs and brands over my years!
Here are some of THE best wellington boots AND winter boots for autumn winter 2022.
Hunter boots are probably the most popular in the UK I think! They do SO many different styles and types of wellington boots and they do last and last! These short wellington boots simplify the iconic design of the Original Boot with a dynamic silhouette and a flatter platform sole for maximum comfort and versatility. Made from the highest quality natural rubber and 100% waterproof.

These are on my lust list / to-buy-list / I NEED THESE BOOTS LIST. I really love the way these look and I feel like I have a slot on my wardrobe for a softer boot that can be used for day-to-day style and good for parks, shorter walks and mum-kid stuff! They look comfy, hardy but just a little more stylish than wellies! I’m just waiting to take the leap and wait for my size to come back in stock online. NOTE : They’ve sold out again since I started and finished this post and I missed out!
Designed to be worn in the warmer months, the Women’s Canvas Desert Boot is an update of the popular Commando style in a breathable black cotton canvas. It keeps feet cool on a hot summer day while still providing natural insulation in cooler weather. An extra set of laces is provided with each pair for a customised look.

A durable pair to call upon when every other style is rained off, this pair of wellington boots from Muck offers a practical choice thanks to its robust rubber composition. These aren’t pretty looking, but they are super comfy, durable and easy to slip on and off. They have incredible customer ratings and come up all the time as some of the best all-rounder wellington boots!
How cute are these?! I love the shorter welly boot anyway, but with the cute rainbow print they are even more pretty! I feel like I would love these in mum and daughter matching for puddle splashing, park fun and muddy walks! Sitting on a flat heel, they are finished with a rounded toe. Heel height: 6cm. SHOP HERE.
These are the Le Chameua boots that I have! Haven’t heard of Le Chemeau?! They are the *proper country brand*, the rolls Royce of wellington boots if you will. All the posh folk (aside from myself) tend to wear Le Chameau wellies. You may be kicked out of Daylesford if you aren’t wearin’ them. But on a serious note they are outstanding quality, super hardwearing and honestly they do SO many styles and types of wellington boots. These are the mid calf /shorter style and I love them for all types of muddy walks, fields, mid-length hikes and everything in between. They are SO SO comfortable. I’ve had mine around 6 years and they are like-new and have worn so well over the years.
This wellington boot is made of natural rubber upper and hard-wearing polycotton jersey lining. Shock absorbing dual density Cross sole with all-terrain grip.

Ok I have these too and these are an ICONIC boot style from Sorel footwear! These are my go-to’s for proper heavy snow / ice / mud and the more dramatic of weathers! They aren’t for stomping about in the wet and rain. These come out for the snow only! I originally purchased these specially for skiing and a holiday to Vermont as we went in fall and it was snowing and they were perfect. They are cosy, super warm and robust.
They have a seam-sealed waterproof construction, a Sherpa snow cuff, extreme traction sole, and the ability to withstand chilling temperatures while still looking good!
These are another pair that I have my eye on this season for a hardy, daytime winter boot. I think these would look really cool with jeans and leggings (soz I’m a mum) and great for shorter walks and outdoor light activities. They looks super comfy and snuggly! northface always are such great quality, I have some of their hiking trainers and I have had them YEARS!
Lightweight, waterproof and insulated, the retro-styled Sierra Boots combine robust leather with a stretchy rib knit to balance functionality and comfort. And the grippy rubber soles are optimised for winter walking.
- Surface Control™ rubber outsole optimised for winter conditions
- Waterproof, seam-sealed construction

- UPPER: Waterproof, full-grain leather
- Rubber wrap in the toe for additional durability and protection

Dr Marten Boots are absolute classics and really do last you years into decades! These are not for hiking or proper active duties…but more of a casual winter boot that look effortlessness, stylish, will keep your feet warm and will deal with the elements well. These are a perfect boot for an active person and I love these as a warmer alternative to my go-to trainers that I live in 80% of the time. They are also super comfortable! I know Dr Marten Boots can be a little tiresome to ‘wear in’ but the last couple of styles I have had haven’t been a problem at all. Some of the current styles I am loving are below : love the lined ones in particular for cosy autumn-winter style.
Also remember to stock up on a good pair of wellington boots socks! I love these ones from John Lewis and the Dr Marten socks as they do lots of different fun styles and lengths. Anything that will fit the length of your boots and protect your feet and ankles from rubbing are a win, particularly if you are wearing anything rubber.
I hope you enjoyed my post on the best wellies and winter boots for 2022! I hope it’s given you some inspo on your next pair of boots! I think mine will be the Hunter Desert Commando Boots as I have been lusting after these since they launched a few months ago. Hopefully my size will come back in stock soon and all my wildest winter boot dreams can come true!
