Strictly Come Dancing star Bill Bailey has revealed that none of his clothes fit him after experiencing dramatic weight loss on the show.

The comedian has lost almost a stone and a half during his time in the competition, previously revealing that he ‘almost flashed’ on another project as his trousers no longer fitted.

Bill told Lorraine Kelly on her show on Wednesday: ‘I’m going to have to get some new clothes. I’ve made clear, that‘s my Christmas list.’

He added: ‘It’s a great workout this dancing, it really is. It’s like a full body workout, it’s like proper aerobics. Most of my clothes don’t fit now… it is physically very demanding.’

Bill has emerged as the favourite to take the title after surprising viewers with his dancing skills, and the comedian admitted that he hadn’t expected to do so well on the programme.

‘No one is more surprised than me,’ he told Lorraine. ‘The music does help, being able to pick out the rhythm being about to feel the music and dance to it, that does help. It’s really taken me by surprise. It’s a revelation really.’

In one of the most competitive series of the show ever, Bill has emerged as the bookies’ favourite, tipped to win over the likes of Maisie Smith and HRVY.

The comedian goes into Saturday’s semi-final following JJ Chalmers’ exit from the competition on Sunday night.

Viewers were left in tears on the show after his dance partner Amy Dowden paid a moving tribute to him, saying: ‘It has been an absolute honour to be your partner and most importantly friend, throughout your Strictly experience. He is, and everybody would agree, one of the world’s most truest gentlemen.

‘I honestly believe from working with JJ over the last few months I’ve become a better person and I’ve learned so much.’

Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday at 7pm on BBC One.
