If there’s one celebrity who really knows how to push the envelope with Indian wear, it’s Malaika Arora. The actor has always had a soft spot for eye-catching lehengas, favouring KiraKira-friendly iterations, looks complemented with strappy blouses, and everything in-between. Most recently, the 47-year-old made her way to the 19th edition of Prag Cine Awards 2021 dressed in a monochrome lehenga by designer Gaurav Gupta. Missed this look? Malaika Arora’s lehenga came with statement details

For the awards night, Malaika Arora opted for a look from Gaurav Gupta’s India Couture Week 2020 collection, Name Is Love. The ensemble was crafted using a lightweight micro crepe and poly organza base with three dimensional folds. The monochrome lehenga showcased the couturier’s signature sculptural silhouette, with voluminous spiralling ruffles along the skirt and dupatta, and an off-shoulder blouse with a flattering asymmetrical neckline. Its black palette was offset with white bugle beading work. The same pearl detailing extended on one side of the skirt too. “It’s a fine balance between couture forms and detailing,” the designer told us during the digital launch of his collection in an interview.

Malaika Arora went minimal with her accessories

Malaika Arora’s Gaurav Gupta lehenga was accessorised with a mix of fashion and fine jewellery from Outhouse Jewellery and designer Renu Oberoi. Her choices: an ornate maang tikka and a cocktail ring. She wore her hair in a messy, loose bun, and completed her wedding-ready ensemble with soft smoky eyes and a caramel lip colour.

Planning your pre-wedding ensembles? Consider a unique lehenga like Malaika Arora’s Gaurav Gupta creation for your sangeet or cocktail party. From its interesting silhouette to its stark palette, this one ticks all boxes of a one-of-a-kind look. Bonus: Its lightweight fabric will ensure you dance the night away with ease.
