The Seventies are typically known as out as ‘the decade that taste forgot.’ Way harsh. There were some regrettable *lewks* going on, but flares, halter necks, sequins and jumpsuits (just some of the 1970’s signature designs) are much too very good not to get a chance on.
As well as a host of model icons to appear out of the Seventies, we significantly stan ABBA’s epic design. The four-piece Swedish band joined Tiktok this week and hinted at a huge announcement on September 2nd (Mamma mia, could it be new music?!) so we’re seeking again at Agnetha and Anni-Frid’s most legendary style times (and Bjorn and Benny’s too…)
You may possibly don’t forget ABBA as dancing queens in lycra unitards, electrical blue satin or white sequins on phase – but the band also had a way with large-waisted denim flares, embroidered waistcoats and great jumpers when it arrived to dressing for working day. Their style was a heady mix of glam rock by night (such as stack heel boots and loads of sparkle) and folksy, cosy daywear, perfect for the autumnal year we’re heading into.
And realizing me, knowing you, there will be a spot in your wardrobe for both kinds of model. If you’re heading Out Out (er, does your mother know?), Temperley London’s sequinned jumpsuit will set the nightclub alight though Giuseppe Zanotti’s leopard print system boots are a disco dancefloor crucial. But you don’t have to expend a large amount of funds, funds, revenue on your right after-dim ABBA design. ASOS have a slinky pair of silver sequin trousers that are now £32.
To get ABBA’s working day-time appear, aim on patch-pocket denims, like these flares from & Other Stories or a twill workwear jumpsuit – tucked into knee-high boots. Cosy up in a space-dye jumper and that other Seventies staple, the maxi skirt. We located 1 from Topshop that has all the retro feels. Waistcoats are also curiously Seventies-fashion and Y2K at the very same time. Bella Freud’s is in pale pink wire that would be best for summer time evening city ‘fits. Gimme, gimme, gimme all the ABBA style!
